About

Welcome to the bar, first drinks are always on the house.

The Social Distancing Bar, started one Friday night in Ponsonby. We had just started our first bottle of Rose and Alice (not her real name) said “Richard you should start an online bar”  the rest they say is History.

The ethos and rules are simple. We wanted somewhere to hang out and have bar banter, somewhere to get away from the struggle of everyday life, somewhere you can just be you and not worry about the outside world and what’s happening there.  A place where everyone knows your name (it’s written by your comment) a bar that you can wear your pyjamas to and lipstick is always optional.

The Barman

I’m Richard and I am the Barman. I was dragged up in West Auckland, turned 40, and then I became a barman because of my weakness for Rose (I don’t think it’s a weakness!).

I can always tell when you need a refill, it’s my superpower #notallheroswearcapes some people have called me mudguard “shiny on top and full of Bull S@$t”, but you decide, the first rounds on me.

Alice…..

You can ask her I’m too scared.
